Innovations "Made in Germany" for modern packaging printing

The marking and code specialist REA Elektronik GmbH will be presenting an expanded product portfolio with numerous innovations at Interpack 2023.

Mühltal, March 06, 2023 - REA Elektronik GmbH develops and manufactures one of the world's most powerful and high-quality product ranges for packaging and product direct printing. The company has also established an excellent reputation nationally and internationally in the field of optical measurement technology for machine-readable codes and customized label applicators, and is growing at an impressive pace. At Interpack 2023, the specialist will be presenting its new developments and providing insights into the performance capabilities of its Industry 4.0-capable portfolio at its largest trade show booth yet - in line with the motto "Print - Apply - Verify".

REA JET UP - Faster. Higher. Further. More Innovative. Better.
With the REA JET UP, REA presents a completely newly developed direct printing system based on piezo technology and thus an interesting alternative to glued labels. UP stands for "Universal Print". This is already an indication that this system can do much more than earlier products of this type, which only worked on open-pored surfaces such as paper, cardboard and wood. For direct printing of high resolution content on smooth surfaces, such as painted and varnished surfaces, REA has specifically developed and patented innovative ink formulations with high drying speeds. A completely new ink supply as well as classic oil-based inks and UV-curing inks extend the range of the new UP. With a print height of 108.4 mm, a maximum print resolution of 360 dpi (vertical), 1,500 dpi (horizontal), a tripling of the previously known speed potential and an ideal print distance of 3 mm, an impressively innovative system enriches the future REA portfolio.

High resolution contact-free printing. A new product generation is launched: REA JET HR 2.0 - making the proven better.

With the high resolution printing product family REA JET HR, REA has already had the world's most powerful HP-based printing system on the market for years. The decisive features: It works completely service and maintenance-free and that at high resolution. For smooth and absorbent materials and for printing machine-readable codes, this technology is increasingly the first choice where variable expiry dates, batch information and codes have to be printed reliably at sometimes extremely fast speeds.

REA is now presenting the REA JET HR 2.0 print heads, which have been significantly improved in many details. The new generation is significantly more compact and thus even more integration-friendly and flexible. A really smart, innovative design helps the operating personnel to avoid unintentionally damaging the nozzle foils of the valuable HP cartridges during insertion and removal. Data and power are supplied via Ethernet hybrid cable.

A new, extremely high-quality TITAN Touch Controller will also be launched at Interpack: it is operated entirely via the easy-to-read, 10.1-inch display without keys or buttons and exclusively by touching the screen. Operators can even leave their gloves on when controlling their coding and marking systems via the modern, tile-based user interface. The touch-based control unit can be used to control various REA printing technologies, for example up to four HR 2.0 print heads or several DOD print heads with up to 1024 nozzles.

REA LABEL ColorJet 2: 1-to-1 full-color label printer - affordable, flexible, variety of uses

As a compact color label printer, the new REA LABEL ColorJet 2 is a cost-effective alternative for small and medium print volumes and comes in three variants. The basis is the standard REA LABEL ColorJet 2S model: it prints small and medium volumes of labels individually or in series, in full color with a print width of up to 210 mm and at the highest resolution of up to 1,200 dpi. The user can choose between dye ink, pigmented ink or nano-pigmented ink for the label material, ranging from matte paper to high-gloss PET foil - in each case in coordination with the selected ink type. Printer setup is only required to a limited extent, as the labels are automatically fed in, their dimensions read and displayed.

With the standard REA LABEL ColorJet 2S model, the label can be removed manually using a tear-off edge, while the REA LABEL ColorJet 2C with circular knife cuts labels individually or after a print job.

The REA LABEL ColorJet 2P offers a unique selling point: it can print and apply labels 1 to 1 in full color. The carrier paper is winded up by an external rewinder. This system can be used, for example, for manual workstations or fully automated applications in applicator operation or robot systems. It has a flexible PLC I/O interface.

With its compact design and robust, powder-coated housing, the REA LABEL ColorJet 2 is the right choice for industrial applications in production, logistics, automation, and wherever high-quality color labels have to be available "on demand". In addition, the majority of its individually replaceable components are made of recyclable material.

Verify codes flexibly with the REA VeriMax Mobile
The new REA VeriMax Mobile is designed for mobile use in production, laboratories, incoming goods and quality assurance. The offline verification system comes with its own tablet PC and verifies the quality of 1D and 2D codes according to international standards, GS1 and other specifications to ensure high first-pass reading rates. By maintaining high code quality and eliminating incorrect code content, the REA VeriMax Mobile can contribute significantly to cost reduction.

The experts at REA Elektronik are also prepared for future requirements - such as the 2D code ("GS1 Digital Link" or "GS1 Data Matrix"), which is recently also being discussed as "2D in Retail": In the medium term, it should replace the 1D EAN code and be the "gateway" to a wide range of information - for logistics, payment processes, traceability or customer information. As a GS1 Solution Partner, REA can support companies with know-how and solutions during the changeover.
