Identification and traceability of components

Regulatory requirements, as well as optimizations in production, lead to the use of matrix codes and barcodes for marking parts that are installed in vehicles. To this end, the VDA (Association of the Automotive Industry) has published the basic specifications VDA 5005 and 5510.

The basic specification VDA 5005 describes processes and procedures for the traceability of vehicle parts and the identification of your technical specifications. The basic specification VDA 5010 provides information about relevant forms of supply in the automotive industry.

The marking is very versatile and ranges from embossed codes in needle technology, laser marking, labeling to coding with inkjet printers. Materials such as plastic and metal must be marked in a variety of forms. This is a challenging task in the application (reading), as well as in marking. Furthermore, in the supply chain, transport labels based on the specifications of the Global Transport Label of the ODETTE association must be used to ensure that the material can be transported quickly and reliably from A to B and for automated goods acquisition.
