The REA Article Look Up function is an
option for REA Bar Code Verifiers to
verify additionally the code content,
best before use and prices.
For data acquisition, database
management and import of article
information's a Windows based
(98SE/2000/XP) Database
program is supplied.
For the connection to a REA Bar code
Verifier a standard serial Port (COM-Port)
is used. This interface allows data
exchange between the REA Bar Code
Verifier and the Windows Database
program. This interface can be used also
for acquisition from the REA Bar Code
Verifier to the Windows database by
using the REA Bar Code Verifier as a
scanner.
Each verified bar code will get on the
verifier display and on the printed
report an article description, price
and date information's. Already existing
article databases can be used by a
taking over the data with a comfortable
import function.
Beside that a manual data acquisition
and a scan function if available. The
data can be changed after data
acquisition. The Article look Up option
offers the possibility to update the
database and to replace the database in
the memory of the REA Bar Code Verifier.
Also single marked article information
can be transferred. Single articles in
large databases can be found by using an
user friendly search function. For
verification of dates are four different
types available. These dates are defined
according the specification of the EAN/UCC
128 Application Identifier specification.
To avoid changes day by day these date
definitions are defined relative to the
date of the internal real- time clock of
the REA Bar Code Verifier. An EAN/UCC
128 Bar code is able to code this date
information's. If this is available
these date information's will be
verified automatically. For all other
symbologies a manual control is possible
according the absolute date limits shown
on the display of the REA Bar Code
Verifier.
