REA serializes injection moulded components

Muehltal, October 05, 2016 – The demand for individualized codings and markings to track injection moulded components increases enormously. Serialized markings of three-dimensional components turned out to be one of the greatest challenges. This is where static methods such as stamps and stencils finally reach their limits. Especially for that, REA provides a new laser method combined with premium laser sensitive additives from Merck.

Within this procedure, the resin is mixed with an additive, which spreads homogenously across the melted plastic during the injection moulding process. By marking the component with the REA JET FL Fiber Laser System, a color changeover arises on the product surface. Markings have a brilliant precision and texts, graphics as well as codes turn out with a high contrast. With the REA laser, plastic products can be permanently individualized with Data Matrix Codes. While being unique, components can be tracked and identified globally from everywhere as well as locally within the production processes. Automatized readable codes provide the basis for process optimization within both areas production and logistics. Recalls can be conducted specifically and remain manageable. Moreover, the individual marking with variable data serves as counterfeit protection. Another great advantage is the flexibility of the REA laser. The system can even mark into pits as well as in areas which are inaccessible for conventional coding and marking methods. At the REA booth during the trade fair K, the company demonstrates within the Direct Part Marking process how components are marked by laser. The demand for Direct Part Marking is strongly growing within many industries.

For marking smooth and non-absorbent surfaces, the company provides the Thermal Inkjet Printer REA JET HR, which prints contact-free, with excellent adhesion and in high-resolution on plastics. Thanks to the proven HP cartridge technology, the system is maintenance-free, has a low ink consumption and can be started immediately even after a longer system shut-down. Its print speed of up to 762 m/min makes it the fastest system of its class. The REA JET HR runs without solvent inks and thinners which makes it even first choice for sensible areas. Therefore, it is a clean, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative to many Continuous Inkjet Printers (CIJ).

The product line REA VERIFIER is specialized in the quality analysis of machine-readable codes via optical measuring methods. With the REA VERIFIER VeriCube System, REA demonstrates the quality check of Barcodes (1D) and of Data Matrix Codes (2D) on three-dimensional products at the company’s booth.
